This masterclass will focus on securing identity, workloads, and operations within Azure. The session will begin with virtual machines and the practices that govern their configuration, followed by blob containers and the security applied to them. It will then cover Microsoft Entra ID and identity security, along with Privileged Identity Management in Azure. The masterclass will move on to Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and close with SIEM and SOAR capabilities delivered through Sentinel.

Identity is now the control plane in Azure, and it is treated as a configuration task more often than as a security boundary. Permissions granted for a migration stay granted. Administrative roles assigned for a project outlive it. Accounts accumulate entitlements nobody holds a current view of, and the result is an environment where the blast radius of a single compromised credential is unknown until it matters. Microsoft has built tooling for this, but tooling assumes someone has decided what the policy should be. Most teams are working the other way round, configuring first and reasoning afterwards. This session is for cloud administrators, identity engineers, SOC analysts, and security professionals running Azure workloads who want the reasoning behind the controls rather than a walkthrough of the portal.
