Phuket-based tattoo studio combines traditional bamboo tattooing, Sak Yant, custom designs and modern tattoo techniques across its Patong and Chalong studios

PHUKET, THAILAND — September 28, 2026 — Siam Ink Tattoo continues to serve local and international clients from two Phuket studios, bringing together traditional Thai tattoo practices and contemporary tattoo artistry. Founded in 2008 by tattoo artist Ong, the studio has developed from its original Patong location into a two-studio operation with a second location in Chalong’s Soi Ta-ied fitness district.

From Patong to Chalong

Siam Ink first opened in Patong in 2008. Located near Bangla Road, the original studio has become the brand’s flagship location and works with artists across a range of tattoo styles, including black and grey, colour, realism, oriental, mandala, fine line, Sak Yant and bamboo or hand-poked tattooing.
The studio later expanded to Chalong, opening its second location in 2023. Situated in Soi Ta-ied, known as a fitness and training hub in Phuket, Siam Ink Chalong provides a more private studio setting while maintaining the standards associated with the Siam Ink brand.

Traditional Bamboo Tattooing

Bamboo tattooing remains an important part of Siam Ink’s work. The technique uses a slender bamboo rod to manually place ink into the skin through a hand-poked process. The method has deep roots in Thai tattoo culture and is traditionally associated with Sak Yant, although bamboo tattooing is also used for custom tattoo designs.

Siam Ink offers bamboo tattooing at both its Patong and Chalong studios. The studio describes the technique as slower and more deliberate than machine tattooing, allowing artists to work carefully on detailed designs while maintaining the character of traditional hand-poked tattooing.

Sak Yant With Cultural Context

Sak Yant is another significant part of Siam Ink’s tattoo offering. These traditional Thai tattoos can feature sacred geometry, ancient scripts, and symbolic designs connected with blessings, protection, and spiritual traditions.
The studio also publishes educational material about the cultural background of Sak Yant, including its traditional rules, symbolism, and placement. Siam Ink’s recent content encourages visitors to understand the cultural meaning of Sak Yant rather than approaching it simply as a decorative tattoo.

A Range of Modern Tattoo Styles

Alongside traditional tattooing, Siam Ink’s artists work across several contemporary styles. The studio’s online galleries feature fine line, realistic and portrait work, black and grey, colour, oriental designs and mandala tattoos. Clients can discuss custom concepts with the artists before deciding on the final design and approach.

Founder Ong’s own tattoo journey includes experience with both traditional Thai techniques and modern electric tattooing. After moving to Phuket in 2002 and developing his skills across different studios, he founded Siam Ink in 2008 following additional international experience in Australia. The studio states that artists are personally selected by Ong based on their artistic ability, creativity, and capacity to develop individual client concepts.

Hygiene and Client Safety

Hygiene remains a stated part of Siam Ink’s studio practices. The brand says its workspaces and equipment are thoroughly disinfected before and after use, while artists follow established sanitation procedures. The studio also encourages clients to ask questions about hygiene practices during consultations.

Clients can arrange consultations before committing to a tattoo. Siam Ink also provides information about its booking and deposit requirements through its website.
