Training That Focuses on Real Clinical Skills

The 450-hour program includes 350 hours of classroom instruction and a 100-hour externship. Students study anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, laboratory procedures, safety practices, and patient-care techniques. The goal is to tie what they learn in class to situations they will actually meet on the job.

Clinical medical assistants work alongside providers and spend much of their day with patients. Depending on the workplace, that can mean recording patient histories, taking vital signs, getting patients ready for exams, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, running basic lab tests, and providing patient education.

Flexible Access to Career-Focused Education

The Clinical Medical Assisting program is offered at all three center locations in Flushing, Manhattan, and Garden City. Weekday, evening, and weekend schedules are available, giving students options that can fit around work and family commitments.

Admission generally requires a high school diploma or GED. Applicants without either may need to take the ABLE (Assessment of Basic Learning Abilities) test and earn a passing score.

Graduates can pursue clinical medical assistant roles in physician offices, clinics, hospitals, outpatient care centers, urgent care facilities, specialty practices, and laboratories. The center also provides job placement assistance after graduates complete the course.
